About the artist
The painter Eugene Liengme develops the subjects of his paintings, usually figures, according to the materials and their inherent expressive qualities. This requires both artistic skills and profound knowledge of the substances used to achieve these skills.
His intention is to balance out subject and process of work so as to give the painting „readability“. And while the image is clearly figurative it’s equally clear that these paintings are defined by factors beyond the simple rendering of human forms.
The artist's work has been widely shown in single or group exhibitions in the greater area of Zurich an other places of Switzerland since 1980.
